  1. It's good that you got the bike to your next stop using just a cheap replacement receiver fitting but trusting that arrangement to last even if you have two of them is very risky.
The leverage action of a 120kg bike is enormous and bolt on fittings are not suitable.
You should have two receivers welded to runners that go back to the actual camper chassis and are welded to it.
I see those harbor freight racks and cringe because the leverage is so great and you're this leverage is very detrimental to a light weight car or SUV chassis (and most don't even have a proper chassis being monocoque). Even the suspension is not designed to cope with this weight and it's not 120kg that we're talking about because of the leverage multiplier.
At least your camper has a proper chassis.
You have a lot to lose if these carriers fail because the bike may be a writeoff if it ends up on the road.

  2. The motorcycle rack didnt fail the receiver did. Those bumper mount receivers are for things like carrying a bicycle or a spare tire mount. Not an entire motorcycle!!

  3. Wow! I did research when wanting to put a bicycle on the back bumper and everything pointed to not even putting a bicycle back on the bumper. Can’t imagine putting a motorcycle back there . All the info I saw said the flexing would break off the back bumper. Did you research this? This could kill someone…

  4. I would still add some sort of structural support beam running horizontally near top of RV, that way you can run support straps to hold cycle steady from top. It may mean running addition horizontal piece inside so bolts dont rip out from wall.

  5. If you want to be helpful, maybe mention to your audience what kind of hitch carrier it is that broke. I apologize if you did mention it, its difficult for me to sit and watch 13 minutes of useless content.

  6. Maybe look into truck front bumper mounting 2 half cups that the wheels sit in , my dad had that set up on his F-350 for years never a problem ? That looked scary glad it went your way wow !

  7. Just came across this video. We are launching fulltime this July. I just picked up s motorcycle and have debated about adding a rear hitch to our 41’ GD Fifth wheel, but the amount of sway back there with a 500’ motorcycle, and this video confirmed it: I’ll be installing a front hitch on my truck. Can’t wait to start our adventure! – The Traveling Taylor Tribe

  8. If extending the trailer frame to reach under the carrier is not an option, then this is a swivel wheel trailer made by Cruiser Lift (cruiserlift.com) on (swivelwheel.com). I used it to carry a motorcycle trike. The carrying capacity is 1200 lbs and has a dual point hitch….https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi2p43eyZzdAhUEIKwKHRxvBHgQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vehicletown.com%2Fdetail%2FSwivel-Wheel-Trailer-for-motocycle-trike-small_331532019309.html&psig=AOvVaw3kL3USMUQ8-Yo3M1JmCFDL&ust=1535986173286047

  9. That bumper is not made for that weight. Get a hitch put on the trailer. You shouldn’t continue to make the same mistake and use the same parts.

Good luck with your future travels.

  10. Rookie almost start FT alone. Truck shopping . You have Cummins diesel with aisin tranny? 90% saying get ford , 10% Chevy. Ur opinion appreciated. Weight not a factor in my question. Asking for reliability . Thanks New and One Ton .

  11. Goodness. What a day. Of course it had to be raining. So glad it was a good ending. What? Legend of the hidden temple game? I want to play. I recently discovered there are a bunch of different aggro crag Guts shits. Definitely going on my Christmas list. Hahaha… And my son loves watching the new Double Dare, so I have that going for me too.

  12. It's a darn good thing there are people in the world who are considerate enough to use whatever means are necessary to flag someone down on the freeway when situations like this pop up. You would have been an interesting sight standing out in the rain like that.
